WHC 2s v Chippenham - Saturday 14th January 2017

Result: WHC 2s [0] Vs Chippenham[8]

It was the first game back after Christmas and a youthful Whitchurch 2nd XI side travelled to Chippenham for a relegation dog fight.

After an early chance for Chippenham, it was Whitchurch who started the brighter of the two sides. After ten minutes Chippenham scored a well worked counter attack goal. Whitchurch continued to apply pressure and were unlucky to concede another goal. Minutes later birthday boy Alex appeared to have an open goal to score in however the goalie appeared out of no where to produce a fine save. Now Whitchurch’s dominance began to show with a succession of short corners unfortunately not resulting in any goals.

As play resumed for the second half it became evident that many of the Whitchurch’s players fitness levels had dropped over Christmas as a result of eating too much Christmas pudding. Whitchurch struggled to match their performance of the first half conceding a *few* goals. This resulted in Neil having game rage once again, smashing the ball away. Moments before full time Will collided with a sliding goalkeeper however the umpire deemed that he had ‘assaulted’ the goalkeeper. Clearly unimpressed, Ted used his classic insult, ‘are you being bullied by a kid?’

An honourable mention must go to Charlie who had a superb debut in difficult circumstances, with excellent passing and resilient defending.

MOTM - Charlie, for an excellent debut.
DOTD - Will, for ‘assaulting’ the goal keeper.
