WHC 2s v Swansea City - Saturday 26th November 16

Result - WHC 2s [2] v Swansea City [2]

Whitchurch 2nds came into this game off the back of an encouraging away performance against Swindon last week and were determined to put in another good performance.

Swansea started the game but it seemed the umpires weren't ready so the game had to be restarted, following the restart Whitchurch were happy to allow Swansea plenty of possession in their own half and deny any forward passes.

A yellow card to Swansea after 2 minutes set the tone for the game, this allowed Whitchurch to have much more possession and they created a few half chances.

The game was fairly even but a lifted pass from Connor found Will to the left of the Circle and he calmly flicked the ball into the far corner.

Whitchurch were on top now and created several more good chances but we're unable to put any of them away. The game turned when Neil was judged to have gone to ground and used his body to block the ball and received a 10 minute yellow. Swansea seized on the numerical advantage and soon after this won a flick which they converted, quickly after this they scored again with a neat deflection.

With Whitchurch back up to 11 the game settled down and there were few chance up to half time.

The second half started as the first had ended with both teams looking for the all important next goal. Mid way through the half Whitchurch won their first corner of the game and Will's drag flick was illegally charged down and another awarded, a change of flicker resulted in Gregor wrong footing the Swansea keeper and the ball just crept over the line for the equaliser.

Several yellow cards to Swansea allowed Whitchurch to start to dominate without creating any clearcut chances. Swansea had a few good chances towards the end of the half but Cellan made a couple of good saves to keep them out. Whitchurch had a short corner with only minutes remaining but Gregor's low drag went narrowly wide with Ted desperately lunging to deflect it in.

The game ended 2 all which was probably a fair result, Whitchurch will take heart from their first point since the opening day when they travel to Devizes next week.
