Whitchurch vs. Barford Tigers

8th February 2015

Whitchurch travelled to Barford looking to get their season back on track after the winter break.

The game started at a high tempo with both teams having opportunities, most noticeably for Whitchurch from a short corner within the first 5 minutes. Not long after Whitchurch failed to clear their lines leading to Barford taking the lead in side the first 15 minutes. Barford gained confidence in the final third and from another defensive error they took advantage with a bullet of a strike in to the side netting. Halftime 2-0.

After a positive team talk from newly appointed coach Rory Gorman Whitchurch came out fighting, leading to patches of fast attacking play that Barford will feel lucky to have kept opportunities to a minimum. With Whitchurch continuing to push for a goal, Barford were limited to counter attacks which ended up with a short corner half way through the second half which they capitalised on. After numerous short corners in a row, a Rhys Davies short corner was deflected off the line by the post man. The keeper was well beaten.
Whitchurch gave 100% all the way to the final whistle but we're just unable to put the ball in the net.

Final score 3-0 leaving Whitchurch rooted to the bottom of the table with a must win game at home to Indian gymkhana next weekend.
