Whitchurch Hockey Club: Six Nations Predictions 2014 – Competition News

Thanks to all of you who entered this year’s competition.

There have been no real shock results so far but less than half of you tipped France to beat England and over two-thirds of you were scuppered by Wales losing in Dublin.  Consequently, after 6 matches we have only 68 all-correct entries. At this point in 2013, we had only 1 all-correct entry; 94 in 2012.

Going into the third weekend of matches Alex Davies leads the competition, with one of Roger Harris’ many entries in 2nd place, Neil Rummings & Guy Ross 3rd, Gerry Blake and Adam Stone 5th, Ruth Minney & Kathryn Harris 7th, and Neil Laxton & Raul Griffiths 9th.

To see how the leaders have moved, and get other names ‘in lights’, here are earlier positions:

After Game 5: 1.Roger Harris 2. Geoff Mitchell 3.E J Davies 4.Neil Rummings & Guy Ross 6 Alex Davies 7.Roger Harris 8.Gerry Blake and Adam Stone 9.Ruth Minney & Kathryn Harris.

After Game 4: 1. Kathryn Harris 2.Sara Davies 3.John Bateman & Malcolm May 5.Georgina Savastano & Joshua Mundy 7.Michael Thomas 8.Neil Davies 9.Sam Knight & Matt Diment.

After Game 3: 1.Jamie Green 2.Graham Morgan, Jamie Thomas, Chris Gronow, Gareth Ellis 6.Mike McCullagh, Stuart Smith, Helen Hay 9.Denzil Gough, Andrew Donovan, Ian Williams, Clare (c/o Matt Thomas), Liz Wakeling.

After Game 2: 1.Emily Moores Neil Beasley 3.Anthony John, Sandy McBain 5.Jackie Jones 6 Chris Lear, Gruffydd Jones, Dave Carroll 9.Vicky Edwards 10.John Stacey, Jon Williams.

After Game 1: 1.Shannon Dimmick, Roger Harris, Gethin Owen, Osian Merfyn 5.Jules Halton 6.Tim Forman 7.Heather Perkins, Jon Turner, Helena Collins 10.Leigh Holtzhausen.

In the attached Excel workbook, the first worksheet shows all entrants in positional order.  It will be easier to check how you as individuals are doing if you look at the 'Entries Alpha' worksheet, in which entries are in surname order – and if you look to the far right of that worksheet, you can see how your position has changed from match to match.

If you want to see what other competitors have forecast for the remaining matches, there is a ‘Summary of Predictions’ at the top of the ‘Entries’ worksheet.

I will update ‘Competition News’ after each successive weekend.

Best wishes for the rest of the competition
